Chelsea close to completing THIRD signing of 2023

The Blues are close to completing a third transfer for 2023 after agreeing to deals for David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos.

The third signing is AS Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile. Talks are progressing fast. The 21-year-old Frenchman has accepted personal terms with Chelsea, who value his qualities on the ball, aggressive style of play, and aerial ability. [Ben Jacobs – CBS Sports]

Shakhtar tell Arsenal their price for Mudryk

 Shakhtar Donetsk have rejected Arsenal’s opening bid for winger Mykhaylo Mudryk. The offer was reportedly worth €65 million –  €40 million up front and a further €25 million in add-ons.

 Shakhtar executive Carlo Nicolini has urged the Gunners to offer a sum closer to the €113.2 million Manchester City paid for Aston Villa star Jack Grealish in 2021.

Barcelona receive €15m Spurs offer for Kessie

Tottenham have made an offer near €15 million for Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie.

The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international joined Barcelona on a free transfer from AC Milan last summer. He has struggled for regular game time, starting just five times in all competitions this season.

Chelsea make ‘positive progress’ in Kante contract talks

N’Golo Kante and Chelsea have made ‘positive progress’ in talks for a contract extension.

As things stand, Kante will be available for a free transfer when his Chelsea deal expires in the summer. He can sign a pre-contract agreement with non-Premier League clubs from January 1.

However, while the contract length is an issue, Chelsea are more confident now that Kante will commit to the club. [The Athletic]
