Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka is close to signing a new long-term contract with the Premier League leaders.

While nothing is signed yet, both parties feel an agreement is close. Saka’s current deal expires in June 2024. The academy graduate’s new contract is worth a reported £10 million a year and will keep him at the Emirates until June 2028. [BBC]

Inter Miami confirm Messi and Busquets pursuit

Inter Miami manager Phil Neville has confirmed that the MLS club hopes to sign Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.

Following the retirements of Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi, Inter Miami have space in their salary cap, with Neville saying: “I’m not going to deny [it and say] there isn’t truth in the speculation that we’re interested in Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. We want to bring the best players in the world to this football club. Messi and Busquets are the two that stand out more in recent years.” [The Times – subscription required]
