The Blues have lost all five games in Lampard’s period as their temporary coach.
Frank Lampard understood the frustration of Chelsea fans after Wednesday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Brentford at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues caretaker manager has now lost all five of his games since replacing Graham Potter on April 6.
“I’ve no problem with that, completely understand it,” Lampard told BBC about the jeers from the Chelsea supporters.
“I know these fans very well and they stick by their team. They feel down because they are used to success and they want that success all the time as we all do. I absolutely understand it, we as players and staff have to take it on the chin because they want results.
“I can say to the fans now that the players are showing application. Brentford had one shot on target and scored two goals, that kind of says it all.”
In the London derby, Cesar Azpilicueta’s 37th-minute own goal put Brentford ahead. Bryan Mbeumo later doubled the scoreline to send Chelsea crashing to a 13th Premier League defeat of the 2022/23 campaign.
With six games to go, Chelsea sit down in 11th in the standings with 39 points. They will now turn their focus to next Tuesday’s trip to league leaders Arsenal at the Emirates.
