The English boss hopes the transfer saga will be over soon, insisting the Chelsea-linked star is still an Everton player.

Everton manager Frank Lampard has admitted Chelsea are eyeing a move for Anthony Gordon.

The Blues are planning to bring Gordon to Stamford Bridge on a reported £60m deal.

Lampard kept the 21-year-old on the bench for his side’s 1-0 win over Fleetwood on Tuesday. However, the Toffees boss insists he made the decision based on Gordon’s fitness status.

“Everyone knows there’s interest from Chelsea, it’s very public now, but he’s our player. It’s as simple as that,” the Toffees boss said.

“He was on the bench [because] he had a bit of an issue with his heel after the game against Forest, we kept him out of it completely unless he was absolutely needed tonight, I didn’t feel he was.”

According to English sources, Gordon has already informed Everton of his desire to leave the club.

The player is reportedly keen to play in the Champions League this season, but the Toffees are yet to respond to Chelsea’s offer.

Everton have a number of Chelsea players on their radar, including Billy Gilmour, Michy Batshuayi, and Armando Broja. However, it seems unlikely that they would lower their demanded fee for a part-swap deal.
