After a few days of training with the squad, Thiago Silva got praised by Frank Lampard for the leadership skills he’s shown at Chelsea.

Ever since he started his career, it was evident that managers like Frank Lampard would immediately spot Thiago Silva’s leadership skills. The Brazilian defender came to Europe from Fluminense and immediately earned himself a spot at AC Milan.

There was no question we would experience one of the best defenders in world football for the next decade. However, we certainly didn’t imagine he would be playing at the highest level at 35 years old. Silva keeps proving that age is just a number as he helped PSG reach the most recent Champions League final.

Players with this level of experience is what Frank Lampard was looking for his young Chelsea squad. The English manager is certain he found a true leader and he will exploit him as much as possible.

Thiago can even be Chelsea’s skipper.

Frank Lampard started spotting the signs of a leader in Thiago Silva from the first moment he stepped on the pitch. Despite not speaking the language very well, it was clear he always demands respect. We are talking about a true defensive wall who will help the Blues achieve a higher level this season.

“Thiago is certainly a leader. He brings that with him by nature,” Lampard said via The Telegraph.

“He doesn’t speak the language that great, something we’re working on very quickly, but we have a lot of players in the squad who are multilingual and help with that.

“By presence, by attitude in training, by the quality of the player he commands respect. I look forward to having him around.

“He already seems very engaging and intent on helping the team, and that’s all you can ask for as a coach.”

“Thiago’s been training with us for the last three or four days, we’re just working with him on his fitness for the moment, so Liverpool will come too soon for him,” Lampard added.

Despite not having a complete greenlight to play, it’s clear that Lampard expects Thiago to be an important part of his starting eleven throughout the season.
