Lampard has rejoined the Blues as their interim manager until the end of the season.

Frank Lampard has added Ashley Cole to his managerial team at Chelsea.

The Blues sacked Graham Potter only a day after their defeat against Aston Villa last weekend. The club then reached a quick agreement with Lampard, who takes over as their interim manager.

Chelsea are yet to announce Lampard’s assistants in his second managerial spell at the club. However, a new report claims Cole is close to returning to Stamford Bridge.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Cole will join Joe Edwards and Chris Jones who will work alongside Lampard until the end of the season.

Edwards and Jones both left Chelsea after Lampard’s sacking in 2021 to continue working with him at Everton. Cole also worked with his former Chelsea teammate at Goodison Park but then joined England’s U21 team.

Chelsea have struggled to join the race for the European spots this season.

A disappointing run of results under Potter has left the Blues stranded on the 11th spot on the table. Lampard will also lead Chelsea to a crucial Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Before then, however, Lampard’s men will travel to Molineux to face Wolves this weekend.
