The AC Milan star offered his support to Ivory Coast teammate Eric Bailly after the defender’s struggles in the Manchester derby.

Franck Kessie was among the stars to throw his support behind Eric Bailly after his own goal in Saturday’s Manchester derby.

The Ivorian defender put the ball into the back of his own net inside seven minutes while trying to clear a cross. It set Manchester United up for another humbling home defeat to one of their bitter rivals.

The Red Devils eventually lost 2-0 at Old Trafford. They tried to spark a comeback by substituting Bailly for Jadon Sancho and changing the tactics at half-time, but it didn’t work.

Bailly has since posted an apology on Instagram and Twitter with an image of his now-infamous own goal.

Several notable names have left supportive replies in response on Bailley’s Instagram page, including ex-Arsenal defender Johan Djourou, fellow United stars Tahith Chong and Amad Diallo, and Kessie.

The AC Milan midfielder wrote to his Ivory Coast teammate: “Great strength to you, great champion.”

Djourou added: “Bro Being in and out is never easy. You on the way to find your form and rise again and again!!”

While former Juventus defender Medhi Benatia posted: “It happens bro, it’s nothing, you’re a champion and even champions make mistakes.”

Bailly will link up with Kessie for the Ivory Coast national team during the international break.
