The former AC Milan star has found a mixed start to his career at Camp Nou.
Franck Kessie’s agency has dismissed “fake news” over the Ivorian’s possible departure from Barcelona.
Kessie joined the Catalans on a free transfer last summer, ending his successful spell at Milan. Since then, the Ivorian has mostly played second fiddle to Frenkie de Jong in Barca’s midfield line.
Kessie’s struggle for regular playing time has led to rumours about his possible exit from the club. However, the 26-year-old’s agency, Ambition Group, have reiterated their stance on keeping him at Barca.
“We denied a possible transfer of Kessié, same for player and club. But fake news is annoying,” they said (via Fabrizio Romano).
“Possibility that Kessié may leave Barça in the next transfer market is the same as hoping that a Snake may suddenly have legs next summer.
“Kessié plays, plays wonderfully well, scores goals, enters Barça history by signing goal no. 3000 and someone finds the courage to divulge delusional information.
“Franck has been clear, Barça too: he wants to stay”.
Kessie scored a crucial match-winner for Barcelona in their El Clasico match last week. The goal helped Xavi’s side extend their lead at the top of the league table to 12 points.
Barcelona will take on Elche in their first match after the international break.
