France’s Antoine Griezmann sent a hidden dig at Ronald Koeman right after scoring a goal against Croatia on Wednesday.

Few of us understand the situation Antoine Griezmann is going through with Ronald Koeman, even the player is confused. Ever since the Dutch manager arrived at FC Barcelona, the French striker hasn’t played in his position despite starting every single match. Even though the gaffer clearly stated that every player would perform in their natural role, this hasn’t happened with Griezmann.

When Messi threatened to leave the club, Griezmann was promised he would become the club’s most important player on the attack. However, Leo’s decision to stay affected these plans directly. Also, Luis Suarez’s exit left the Catalan club without a natural striker and Koeman had to improvise.

It’s a shame watching Griezmann shine with France and not with Barcelona, especially during such challenging times for the club. Didier Deschamps understands the situation and he gives Griezmann the trust he doesn’t get from Koeman.

While playing with France, Antoine usually performs cutting from the wing to the inside of the box and he alternates with Mbappe. That’s his natural position and the place he learned to love at Atletico Madrid. After scoring his goal against Croatia, Griezmann seemed eager to deliver Koeman a hidden message.

“I feel good, the coach knows where to position me,” Griezmann declared post-match on Marca.

“I think it was one of my most beautiful goals, I put everything into the shot and if it went into the stands it didn’t matter. I’m trying to take advantage of this situation, of the position I’m being played in here and I have the confidence of both my coach and my teammates.”

“It was a difficult game, not very beautiful to watch and not beautiful to play, but we knew how to suffer,” he added. “The most important thing for us was to win, we showed that we are strong defensively. Yet, in attack we know we can score with every little chance we get.”
