The France National team traveled to Munchen in order to face Germany in the most exciting Euro 2020 first-round match. We had the two most recent World Cup champions facing each other in Group F, which is also the famous Group of Death. Earlier today, Cristiano Ronaldo already headlined the day with a brace that gave Portugal the lead inside the group. It was France and Germany’s turn to show up during one of the most exciting games of the tournament.
During the first half, Paul Pogba produced a brilliant piece of skill by placing a pass between the lines to an approaching Lucas Hernandez. On the television, the Bayern full-back wasn’t even inside the frame and the pass still got to him. After he sent the ball to the heart of the box, Mats Hummels was unfortunate with his defending and scored the only goal of the match. However, this game was only getting started between two of the most exciting national teams in the world.

After a major schooling during the first half, Germany reacted well once the break ended through their midfielders. Ilkay Gundogan, Thomas Muller, and Toni Kroos led the way to a possible reaction from the Germans. But the French defended in brilliant fashion with Raphael Varane leading his line on every chance Germany created. N’Golo Kante also had a starring role recovering balls in midfield and facilitating the game for Paul Pogba.
There were two key moments during the second half for France. The first one came through a goal Kylian Mbappe scored but got disallowed because he was in clear offside. Karim Benzema’s strike suffered the same fate after getting assisted by Mbappe. After 96 minutes played, the ref sounded the full-time whistle and gave France the victory over Germany. The second round will be very interesting for all Group F squads.
