Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed his reaction to Harry Kane’s recent actions and what he thinks lies ahead for the striker.
Harry Redknapp has admitted Harry Kane’s refusal to attend training was a ‘surprise’, but he doesn’t believe it will aid his chances of leaving Tottenham either.
Kane made it crystal clear that he intends to leave by not reporting back for pre-season training on Monday and again on Tuesday. His actions ‘disappointed’ Spurs, who reportedly intend to fine him as punishment.
Despite this, and the fact Kane believes he has a gentleman’s agreement with Daniel Levy to leave, the Spurs chairman doesn’t want to sell him. He even rejected a reported £100 million from Manchester City in June.
“You wouldn’t have expected that,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.
“You’d have just thought he’d have turned up and had a meeting with Daniel [Levy] again. I’m sure his advisers are meeting with Daniel [Levy] anyway and got it sorted out.
“I was a bit surprised. I’m sure he’ll come into training today [Tuesday] when the training starts, but not the best way to go about it really.
“He’s so loved at Tottenham, it’d be a shame if that got spoilt. It shouldn’t do because of what he’s done and how much he loves the club.”
🤔 “You wouldn’t have expected that from Kane, I thought he would turn up.”
👀 “I was surprised. It’s not the best way to go about it but unless Daniel Levy gets the money he wants, he won’t budge!”

Levy will only budge for the right price
The former Spurs boss is certain Levy to hold firm on his stance to keep Kane unless interested clubs can match the chairman’s asking price.
Redknapp added: “He [Kane] just feels I think now that it’s time to move, but he’s got to go about it in the right way.
“His agents have got to sit down with Daniel [Levy] and try to [sort it out].
“At the end of the day, unless Daniel gets the money that he wants, it isn’t going to happen. If he wants £150million and someone is offering £130million-£140million, it’s not going to get him. Daniel won’t budge.”
