The former Arsenal and England international would love to play for his old club if he gets the opportunity to do so.
It has been quite some time now since Jack Wilshere has been in search of his future move. But he knows whatever it is, his heart will always chant the Arsenal name. The England international admitted that he would love to see himself back at Emirates Stadium to continue playing football. And indeed, it is evident that Wilshere has spent the majority of his career at Arsenal. After signing his first professional contract in 2008, he featured for 198 games during his 10-year run for the Gunners.
However, even though Wilshere managed to rack 14 goals and 30 assists, the future was uncertain at that time. Who knew the midfielder would go through a series of injuries and his Arsenal career would arrive at a conclusion. In addition to his setbacks, Jack was fighting for a regular spot in the Gunners’ squad. Therefore, it only made sense for him to find a better option during the summer of 2018. Wilshere then joined West Ham on a three-year agreement.
Wilshere has not given up hope.
Jack was in good hope that his move to the London Stadium would bring out the best for his future. But the Englishman found himself dragged down by fitness issues all over again. For the Hammers, Wilshere only managed to play 19 games over the course of two seasons. Eventually after mutual consent, both the parties canceled his contract last month.
The 28-year-old since then has been looking for possible future opportunities. Moreover, Wilshere is also open to undertaking responsibility outside of the UK. Some reports however say that the Scottish Premiership side Rangers are on the lookout to sign a deal with him. The ex-Gunners man though wants to make a restart to his Arsenal career and will choose the club no matter what.
Wilshere told ITA Football Football Show: “Listen, you never know. I’m an Arsenal man. There’s nothing, I’ve not spoken to anyone or anything but that would be the dream. I’m not stupid to know that there’s probably no chance of it happening but I’m an Arsenal man, I love the club and want to see the club do well.”
Jack also received questions regarding Mikel Arteta’s first season for Arsenal. He said: “I’ve heard he’s really good, a lot of people who were there when I was there have left, but a few are still there. He’s really hands-on, it’s really coach-led, is what I’ve heard, he knows what he wants and where he wants his players to be. He wants hard work every session and I think you can see that when he first came in.”
