The German attacker couldn’t even last for half an hour in Sunday’s Bundesliga outing as he came limping off after picking up a knock.

Hansi Flick has removed the fears surrounding Serge Gnabry’s fitness issue saying the injury the player picked up against Freiburg “is not serious.”

Gnabry landed awkwardly after attempting a shot from outside the 18-yard box and, unable to continue thereafter, was subbed off after just 28 minutes at the Allianz Arena.

The 25-year-old had played full 90 minutes in the shock DFB-Pokal defeat to Holstein Kiel but missed the preceding Bundesliga outing against Borussia Monchengladbach due to a shin problem.

It was feared that he could spend a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering another injury setback, but Flick insists that is not going to be the case.

“The injury is not serious, I have heard from the doctors,” the Bayern boss told reporters, via Goal. “The muscle in his back cramped up.”

Leroy Sane replaced the injured Gnabry. The former Manchester City man initially had a tough time adjusting to his surroundings but now seems to be gradually getting back on his feet.

“I don’t like singling out individual players but he did very well and did things the team would like to see from him,” said Flick of Sane who set up Thomas Muller for the winning goal in the 2-1 win.

“We saw good development. He proved today that he is always good for an assist or a goal.”
