During a lively match between Borussia Dortmund and the German champions, Bayern Munich midfielder suffered a huge blow.

Hansi Flick sent a warning sign to all the team members after Joshua Kimmichโ€™s knee injury vs Borussia Dortmund. The Bavarians however ended up beating BVB by 3-2 at Signal Iduna Park in the first Der Klassiker of Bundesliga. Kimmich was seen making a desperate tackle to regain possession from Erling Haaland after losing the ball. Though, his failure to get the ball back saw the German international suffer from awkward knee trouble.

And Kimmich was taken off by two Bayern medical officials following temporary treatment on the pitch. Despite the victory, the German champions could not celebrate the triumph as usual due to Joshuaโ€™s sad moment. Moreover, teammate Leon Goretzka mentioned that Kimmich might have overextended his knee, but Flick desires to wait for the scan results.

“Joshua will fly with us and then be examined,โ€ Flick said. โ€œI don’t know yet and don’t want to anticipate anything. We have to wait now. I am not participating in speculation.

“He’s an important player for us in this position. In addition to his mentality, he also has outstanding quality. It’ll be difficult, but we made it today against a good Dortmund team.”

Although now, if Kimmich sustains serious damage to his knee, it could be troublesome for Flick and Bayern altogether. Nevertheless, following this result, all the players will move on to the international break. Meaning, there is a slight possibility that the 25-year-old could make it after the two-week period. Additionally, Goretzka hopes that Kimmich will be able to battle this problem.

โ€œHe has a good healing power so we hope for the best,โ€ he said.
