Fiorentina and Arsenal have reportedly found an agreement for Lucas Torreira to return to Serie A before the transfer deadline passes.
Torreira has fallen out of favor at Arsenal after sustaining an ankle injury back in March, with Mikel Arteta favoring the likes of Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos.
Ceballos is on the verge of re-joining the Gunners on another season-long loan after Real Madrid agreed on another temporary deal with the Emirates outfit.
According to the Sports Mole, as soon as the Spaniard reaches London again, Torreira will team up Fiorentina for a reported fee of £24million.
The Italian side will spend £8m to bring the 24-year-old on a season-long loan before dishing out another £16m to trigger the obligation to buy option next summer.
The Uruguay international joined Arsenal from Sampdoria in 2018 and had quickly established himself as a regular starter in north London.
However, Torreira has lost a starting berth since Arteta replaced Unai Emery in the dugout. He made just one Premier League start since the resumption of football in June.
Fiorentina are one of several Serie A clubs to show interest in the holding midfielder.
AC Milan, AS Roma, and Torino have all been mooted for Torrerira’s potential destinations before the Tuscany-based side managed to pull off the deal.
