Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Pradè has dismissed any reports linking the club with a move for Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira.

Arsenal are looking to sell some players to raise funds for transfers this summer. Lucas Torreira could be one of those names on the Gunners’ selling list.

The Uruguayan joined Arsenal in the summer of 2018 and enjoyed a stellar debut season at the club.

Last season, the same couldn’t be said for Torreira. The 24-year-old endured a mixed season as he was in and out of the Gunners lineup due to injuries.

Post lock-down, the midfielder found himself struggling for game-time and his future at the club has been in doubt since then.

Arsenal are reportedly willing to sell Torreira for the same €28m they signed him from Sampdoria in 2018.

Over the past few days, multiple reports in Italy claimed Fiorentina and Torino were set to enter a bidding war for the midfielder.

Further reports even claimed Fiorentina were leading the race but all of that might be fake news.

In what could be a boost to Torino, Viola director Daniele Pradè assured they were not in the running.

“Torreira is an excellent player, but with the midfield we have right now, we consider that part of the squad complete,” said Pradè during a press conference via the club’s website.

“We are not interested in pursuing this any further.”

It means Torino can have the all-clear to pursue Torreira who already worked with coach Marco Giampaolo at Sampdoria.
