The London giants win their first major trophy in over four decades under David Moyes.

West Ham defeated Fiorentina 2-1 in the Europa Conference League final. A 90th-minute from Jarrod Bowen was enough for the Hammers to clinch the title at Eden Arena.

A thrilling final!

The game started with both sides pushing for an early breakthrough. However, as the initial attacks fizzled out, both sides became more cautious with their efforts to score.

West Ham made a few serious goalscoring chances toward the end of the first period. But they had to wait until after the break to score their first goal of the night.

Following Cristiano Biraghi’s handball inside Fiorentina’s box, Said Benrahma converted the spot-kick to put the Hammers ahead in the 62nd minute.

But Fiorentina’s reaction was instant as they found the equalizer only five minutes later. Giacomo Bonaventura rifled a precise low shot behind Alphonse Areola to bring back the Italian giants into the game.

For a few minutes, it seemed that La Viola were on their way to complete the comeback and win the game. But a fantastic through ball from Lucas Paqueta turned the game around in the 90th minute.

Jarrod Bowen received the ball behind Fiorentina’s backline with a quick run before converting the one-on-one against Pietro Terracciano. Fiorentina tried to come back into the game during the extra time but it was already too late to prevent West Ham from winning the title.

The Hammers claim their first major trophy since winning the FA Cup in 1980 by becoming the Conference League’s second winner.
