Fiorentina 1-2 Inter: Player Ratings as Nerazzurri defend Coppa Italia title

Inter edged out the Viola to win the Italian Cup for the second time in a row.

Inter defeated Fiorentina 2-1 in the Coppa Italian final on Wednesday. A thrilling first half determined the out of the game at Stadio Olimpico.

Martinez steals the show!

Fiorentina stunned Inter with an early goal through Nicolas Gonzalez. The 25-year-old put his side ahead with a simple finish from close range as the Viola found a perfect start to the game.

Inter, however, managed to find their feet in the game quickly after conceding the opener.

Following a host of missed chances, Inter finally found the equalizer. Marcelo Brozovic’s perfect through ball was converted by Lautaro Martinez with a powerful finish in the 29th minute.

The Nerazzurri managed to use their momentum to double the lead only eight minutes later. This time, Nicolo Barela’s cross found Martinez, who completed his brace with an unstoppable shot from inside the box.

The goal forced Fiorentina to push for the equalizer throughout the second half. Both sides found a host of brilliant chances after the break, with Gonzalez coming the closest in the 74th minute.

It was Inter, however, that won the title by holding on to their one-goal lead until the end. The Nerazzurri will now prepare to meet Atalanta in their next Serie A game on Saturday.
