Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence was the place where Fiorentina received a visit from Inter Milan in Serie A. We got the player ratings.
The Italian Serie A has a new leader after Liverpool’s victory at Fiorentina on Friday night football. Antonio Conte’s squad keeps growing to become one of the country’s most solid squads that is definitely a title contender. Tonight, Cesare Prandelli’s squad didn’t have Franck Ribery to play because he needed some rest. As the French veteran enjoyed the match from the stands, he got increasingly more frustrated this evening.
Inter is simply one of the hardest clubs to beat in Italian football today. Conte made sure that all his players perform at their full capabilities both on offense and on defense. However, we would have to single out one player above the rest in order to understand the final result of this game. Nicolo Barella has been carrying his teammate for the last month with his impressive level as a midfielder.
Barella is Inter’s boss on the pitch.
Every single offensive chance that takes place for Inter goes through Barella’s feet, he is the brains of Antonio Conte’s operation. Today, he finally got his reward for all the hard work during the first half of the game. A long-range curled effort gave Inter the lead and confirmed Barella’s great moment for the Nerazzurri. In the second half, Achraf Hakimi served an assist for Perisic to secure the victory and apply pressure on AC Milan for next Sunday.
The Rossoneri need to defeat Crotone in San Siro if they want to recover the top of the table, which they lost today against Inter. Italy’s Serie A keeps getting more interesting as the most important part of the tournament goes into third gear. It’s still soon to tell who will be the dominant force this season but we have a lot of interesting prospects. Inter is definitely amongst the top title contenders.
