St. Petersburg Stadium was the place where Belgium played against Finland in Group B’s last Euro 2020 match. We got player ratings.

The Belgian National Team needed to get a victory against Finland in order to finish top of Group B and as one of the Euro 2020’s title contenders. They weren’t able to penetrate the Finnish defence during the first half despite their obvious dominance. Eden Hazard started the game in the middle of a lot of scrutiny related to his ankle injury. The Real Madrid star recently stated he doubts he will return to his top form due to this issue. Today, he proved he is at least willing to put in the work in order to deliver results.

Roberto Martinez gave him the full 90 minutes to complete and got him the activity he needed. Even though he wasn’t able to score, Hazard was important throughout the entire game. Most of the action happened during the second half but Belgium had several good opportunities to score throughout the 90 minutes. However, Finland allowed them to get better results after the first goal that came after the break.

Vermaelen and Lukaku seal the deal.

After the break, Belgium needed a set piece in order to score the first goal of the evening against Finland. Thomas Vermaelen was the lucky one who got them through the threshold. Earlier, Lukaku got a goal disallowed due to a clear offside but he eventually got his revenge. It happened near the end of the match when the game was open right after Vermaelen scored.

Finland wanted to get that next-round ticket but they risked everything to get it. Lukaku scored a brilliant turnover goal that gave his side the perfect start of the Euro 2020. Alongside Italy, these are the top title contenders. Also, Denmark accomplished the impossible after scoring 4 goals against Russia in order to get that second place inside Group B.
