The Toffees return to the Premier League after being rocked with a ten-point deduction.
Bruno Fernandes has admitted that Everton could be more motivated to claim points against Manchester United after their recent points deduction.
On Friday, the Premier League confirmed a record-breaking sanction for Everton’s breach of profitability and sustainability rules. The Toffees have surpassed the £105m threshold for financial losses over a three-year period.
Having slipped to the bottom-three, Everton are now desperate to collect as many points as possible to avoid getting relegated.
“They just lost 10 points. So we know that they need points, they are going to fight for their points,” Fernandes told FourFourTwo. “We just have to find the focus to go to Everton and win the game, because we know that in the Premier League, these kinds of games are always tough.”
Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a narrow win over Luton Town just before the international break. However, their situation in the Champions League is different, as they sit at the bottom of Group A with only three points from four matches.
Speaking on United’s next UCL match against Galatasaray, Fernandes added: “Obviously, [Galatasaray] after that is a massive game, we know the position we are in the Champions League, what we need to do. So, it’s good to focus on game by game, because we can’t think too much ahead.”
