According to reports, Bruno Fernandes could be in line for a weekly-wage increase at Manchester United after impressing for the club.

Bruno Fernandes is set to receive an improved contract from Man United that would see him double his current wages.

The Portuguese midfielder remains in great form for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season.

So far, Fernandes is United’s top-scorer with 22 goals and 13 assists across all competitions.

His goals have been key to the Red Devils’ ambition as they aim to finish their Premier League season strongly and challenge for the FA Cup and Europa League.

Fernandes joined United in January 2020 in a £67m deal from Sporting Lisbon. He signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at Old Trafford at the time.

According to The Sun, the 26-year-old’s performances have earned him a significant wage hike from the £100,000-a-week flat-rate salary he earns, although other bonuses take his contract to £180,000-a-week.

The report claims Fernandes is currently the seventh-highest earner at United, with goalkeeper David de Gea currently owning the most lucrative contract on £375,000-a-week. Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani, Harry Maguire are the other United stars who earn more than the Portuguese.

Fernandes was a big part of the Red Devils’ finish last season as they went on to secure a Champions League spot. His tally of 12 goals in 22 matches in his first six months at Old Trafford was enough to see United end last season in second place.

Just recently, the 26-year-old’s importance to the club was further highlighted in the fact that United are not willing to let the midfielder leave for international games later this month.

For a player who has been as influential as Fernandes, losing him for three to four games would be something United hope to avoid by any means at all.
