A video surfaced on social media that led many to suggest Fernandes and CR7 weren’t on good terms after the latter’s big interview.

Bruno Fernandes has laughed off suggestions he is in some sort of rift with Manchester United and Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has dominated the headlines over the last couple of days after clips of his tell-all interview with Piers Morgan came out, which revealed his true feelings about United, the management, the club’s owners, and some of his former teammates.

Only a few clips are out so far, but they’ve been more than enough to get people talking. The media has condemned Ronaldo for his actions, accusing him of ‘betraying’ United and his teammates. A video then emerged later of Fernandes appearing to give CR7 a rather frosty reception at the Portugal camp.

However, according to both Fernandes and Joao Mario, the scene has been misread.

“I was there and saw everything. It was a funny moment that was misinterpreted on the outside,” Mario said at a press conference.

“Bruno was late, one of the last to arrive, and Cristiano asked him if he came by boat. I understand the images can be interpreted in many ways, but it was a joke between them. There is no problem between them.”

Fernandes replied to Mario’s comments on Instagram Stories by cheekily posting: “There you are, ruining the covers of the newspapers.”

A laughing emoji accompanied Fernandes’ comment.
