The midfielder has drastically improved the quality as well as the mentality of the Red Devils ever since joining them 12 months ago.

Manchester United supporters were thrilled with the arrival of Bruno Fernandes last January but not even the most optimistic of them had expected from him the impact that he has had.

Operating from the middle of the mark, the Portuguese was most often than not dictated plays and remained at the center of action in his new team in the second half of 2019-20.

He amassed eight goals and seven assists in his debut Premier League campaign as he propelled United to a third-place finish.

The former Sporting man remains the mainstay for the Red Devils this season with 17 direct goal contributions in just 18 games across all competitions so far.

A teammate of his who went against him several times during their time together in Primeira Liga now has heaped praise on Fernandes.

Asked to sum up Fernandes’ recent performances ahead of Thursday’s trip to Sheffield United, Alex Telles told Inside United: “My summary is simple: decisive! He’s a decisive player.

“He may not stand out in one game or another, but he’s still decisive.

“When he’s in front of goal or from a free kick, or penalty, he’s always showing his quality. He’s got a strong mind and personality in his vision and thinking.

“It’s a source of pride and an honor to have someone like this in the team, someone that can help and motivate us in every game.”
