Rio Ferdinand unashamedly praised Jadon Sancho and it has not sat well with Adrian Durham, who believes Trent Alexander-Arnold is much better than him.

Jadon Sancho has had a brilliant season for Borussia Dortmund. He scored 17 goals and laid down 16 assists.

Manchester United have been linked with his services. However, that trail has gone cold as Borussia Dortmund want him in their ranks for another season.

This has not stopped speculation about Sancho’s future. Rio Ferdinand hailed him as the ‘best young player’ and it has not sat well with the game’s purists.

Adrian Durham disagreed with Ferdinand’s views and let his opinions known. He pointed towards Kylian Mbappe and Trent Alexander-Arnold as the best youngsters in the business.

Arnold won the Champions League with Liverpool last season and followed it up with the Premier League title. He improved on his Premier League assists record (13) and is the player with most passes in the area across Europe’s top five leagues.

Durham stated that Ferdinand is wrong in his assessment and should apologize to Alexander-Arnold for the slight.

“Yesterday we talked in the ‘headsgone’ about Rio Ferdinand describing Jadon Sancho as the best young player in the world BAR NONE…,” the Drivetime host was quoted by TalkSPORT.

“We highlighted Kylian Mbappe, but you could easily throw in Trent Alexander-Arnold as well.”

“Rio is plain wrong with that and he should give a massive apology to Trent Alexander-Arnold because he’s been breath-taking.”

“It’s not just the end product and the quality of what he does in a team that’s winning stuff, it’s the fact he’s so mature and at such a young age as well.”

“As an Englishman, I’m feeling very excited about what an England manager can do with a talent like Trent Alexander-Arnold.”
