Rio Ferdinand has made about Timo Werner who was heavily linked with Liverpool in the summer before he joined Chelsea.

Rio Ferdinand is of the opinion that Liverpool were never really interested in signing German forward Timo Werner.

The 24-year-old was rumored to have been interested in a move to Anfield but the deal never went through.

Werner joined Chelsea instead after the Blues activated his £47.5m release clause from former side RB Leipzig.

Prior to that, reports claimed the only reason the Reds failed to sign the Germany international is because of financial constraints from the coronavirus pandemic.

But Rio Ferdinand doubts if Liverpool were ever really interested in Werner in the first place.

“I probably question whether they really were in for Werner,” Ferdinand said as quoted by Football365.

“Because Jota came around quite quickly after that and they all seemed very happy with that.”

Werner has been in decent form so far for the Blues, scoring eight and assisting four in 14 appearances in all competitions.
