After the news of Harry Kane not showing up to training, both Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Carragher clashed over his decision.
You can think what you want about Harry Kane, but Ferdinand and Carragher do make excellent points to why he decided to miss practice. As you may already know, the England captain was scheduled to show up for all the protocol assignments. He needed to get PCR tested for Covid-19 and all the usual procedures after a holiday. But Kane understands he had a ‘Gentleman’s agreement’ that Daniel Levy is refusing to respect.
Harry wants to leave the Spurs this summer and there is nothing anybody at Spurs can do to stop him. But his recent actions brought upon a divide between Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Carragher. And we do have to say that both of them make excellent points. But you be the judge after looking at what they had to say about the entire situation.
Was Harry Kane unprofessional?
It all happened through Twitter, where both of these former stars have an account. Rio was the first one to respond after the news broke: “I’m not saying that Harry Kane and his tactics to leave are wrong (if we are to believe what’s being said). Harry wants trophies and he ain’t getting any younger.”
But for Jamie Carragher, missing practice is a major mistake from a professional like Kane. In his view, Harry ‘should not ruin his name at Tottenham’: “I disagree, it is wrong not to turn up for training. We all know he wants to go & can totally understand why. But Harry should not ruin his name or relationship with the supporters who idolise him just to get the move. Spurs will always be HIS club.”
