Brazilian defender Felipe has struggled at Atletico Madrid due to Diego Simeone’s lack of communication skills.
Felipe has been at Atletico Madrid since 2019 when the Colchoneros paid Porto €20 million to sign the highly-rated defender. Despite having a good debut season in Madrid, Felipe has been left out of some important clashes recently. According to the player, the reason why he’s been sidelined by Diego Simeone remains unclear.
“I’m a person that likes it when others are talkative, but El Cholo [Simeone] isn’t,” he confessed to TNT Sports. “He’s a guy that chooses and that’s it, there are no middle terms. For me, that’s a little complicated because I always look for the reason why. That has caused me some discomfort, but today I understand, I know how it is.”
Atletico Madrid face Chelsea in the Champions League this Tuesday and Felipe believes the Colchoneros have a real chance to make it through in the competition.
“We have a great team, we know that we have the capacity [to win]. That’s it, we have to root for it and do whatever we can to surpass Chelsea.”
Felipe has featured in 25 matches for Atleti this season and played the 90 minutes against Levante on the Colchoneros’ last La Liga game.
