As per the report, Pep Guardiola is a well-known admirer of Grealish, with the Villa captain also excited at the prospect of playing at the Etihad stadium.
Just recently, Grealish hailed De Bruyne as the best player in the Premier League.
The move would come as a blow for United who also wanted the 25-year-old but opted to sign Donny Van de Beek instead.
Villa value Grealish at £100m, and it remains to be seen if any side will be willing to pay that amount in the current circumstances.
