Luis Suarez has attempted to induce calm over the uncertainty surrounding his future amid talks of an imminent departure from Barcelona.

One of Ronald Koeman’s very first moves upon being appointed as the FC Barcelona head coach was, according to the Spanish media, putting several first-choice players on the transfer list.

Koeman, who took the office last month replacing Quique Setien, who had guided Barca to a trophyless 2019/20 season, is said to be intent on revamping his squad ahead of the upcoming season.

A surprising name emerging in the new manager’s throwaway list is that of Luis Suarez.

Suarez has been one of the team’s most reliable servant over the years. Him being the third best goalscorer in the history of the club, only behind Lionel Messi and Cesar, goes on to prove the above statement.

Regardless, the 33-year old’s exit from the Camp Nou has looked imminent these days. Juventus are understood to be in pole position to sign him. A few reports even claim that he has agreed to personal terms with the Serie A champions and now the two clubs only need to negotiate a transfer fee before the deal goes through.

Ajax and MLS side Inter Miami have also reportedly registered their interest in him.

The Uruguayan striker has entered the final year of his contract at Barca. His contract also has an option of auto-renewal when a certain target is met, and Suarez suggests he is in no hurry to quit the club.

Suarez recently posted a photo on Instagram in which he was seen grinning during a training session with Barca, along with the caption: “When fake news comes out…”
