Middlesbrough dumped Tottenham out of the FA Cup following a goal from Josh Coburn.

Tottenham were dumped out of the FA Cup by Middlebrough, with teenager Josh Coburn scoring the only goal of the match.

Boro have been on a strong run in the FA Cup, knocking out Manchester United in the fourth round, and followed it up with a 1-0 defeat of Spurs, thanks to a 107th-minute strike by 19-year-old Coburn.

Spurs had their best chance of the game in the first half when Matt Doherty miscued his finish. Son Heung-min could have won it for the Lilywhites in stoppage time, but nodded his effort straight at Lumley as the game went into extra time.

Speaking after the game, Coburn said: “Speechless.

“In front of the Riverside Stadium, you cannot get better than that against a Premier League team. Just amazing. I can’t put it into words.”

Tottenham have now lost seven of their 13 games in 2022 and extended their trophyless run to a 15th season.
