The Argentine star spent two seasons at Old Trafford before joining Manchester City.

Former Manchester United defender Rafael has admitted he “never liked” Carlos Teves.

Rafael joined Manchester United from Fluminense in 2008, a year after Teves’ arrival on a loan deal from West Ham. Tensions between the two players peaked when Teves faced Man United as an opponent after his controversial move to Man City in 2009.

The referee had to intervene and separate Rafael and Teves, who clashed after a foul. The Brazilian star has now admitted he didn’t like Teves as a teammate either.

Speaking to SporTV (via Sport Witness), the 33-year-old said: “I’m not a fan of Tevez, not as a player. I’ve already had a fight with him. The game against City, he’d left United. I’ve never been a fan of his because Tevez liked to rubbish new players.”

Rafael played for Lyon and Basaksehir after his departure from Man United in 2015. He then returned to Brazil, where he is currently under contract at Serie A side Botafogo.

Further reflecting on his relationship with Teves, Rafael added: “I’m not ashamed to say that I don’t like him [Tevez].

“He was always very respectful, but picked on the youngsters there, so I never liked him. The fight happened, I hit him and the referee gave a foul. I did that to get him off, because he pushed me and it started.”
