The Argentine striker will leave Manchester City in the summer as a free agent, but where to exactly?

While Gael Clichy thinks Arsenal would be a ‘good fit’ for Sergio Aguero, he expects his former Manchester City teammate would favor a sunny life in Spain.

Aguero will end a 10-year spell at the Etihad Stadium once his contract expires this summer. He leaves as City’s record scorer, the highest foreign scorer in Premier League history, and with the fourth-best goal tally in the English top-flight’s history.

In fact, Aguero is only six goals away from equaling former Manchester United star Andy Cole for third-place in the Premier League’s all-time scoring charts.

But amid alleged transfer interest from Barcelona, Clichy expects he may choose a move abroad over making more history in England.

“I could see him staying in the Premier League, because he will want to climb to third or second [in the all-time top goalscorers charts],” former Arsenal full-back Clichy, who played alongside Aguero at City between 2011 and 2017, told Stadium Astro.

“He can get there, for sure. Does he want that? Ten years with Manchester City is enough, I think he will move where he can enjoy it a bit more.

“Can he see himself at another English club? That’s the question. He loves the sun.

“I would like to see him stay [in England] to get to second or third in goals, but I think he will move away from the Premier League.

“I think Arsenal is a good fit, in terms of style of play. They play nice football and they create opportunities, but I really doubt he would go there.

“I’m pretty sure he will go to Spain.”

Chelsea are reportedly the favorites to sign Aguero if the Argentine remains in the Premier League.
