Ahead of the Europa League semi-final between Manchester United and AS Roma, Dzeko is already dreaming big.

Edin Dzeko is adamant Manchester United won’t have Roma running ‘scared’ and believes ‘anything is possible’ in the upcoming Europa League semi-final showdown.

The former Manchester City striker has a superb record against the Red Devils. He has nine goal involvements in as many encounters across all competitions (7 goals, 2 assists), and memorably scored twice in that infamous 6-1 thrashing at Old Trafford on October 2011.

So while it’s been six years since Dzeko last faced United, the Roma man is relishing the prospect of returning to Manchester.

“You don’t get to play semi-finals every day,” Dzeko told UEFA.com.

“We know their strength, and Manchester United are certainly favourites, but the very fact that we’ve got to the semi-finals gives us the right to believe.

“We know that we have quality, too, and first of all, as a team, we have to act as one. Then, anything is possible.

“When you’re playing in the semi-finals, [lifting the trophy] is certainly the ultimate aim. Maybe, at the beginning of the Europa League you don’t think so long term, but when you’re so close it’s certainly the aim.

“Ahead of us, we have one of the strongest opponents of the last 20 years in European football, and it won’t be easy at all. We’re aware of that but we don’t have to be scared. Anything is possible.”

Dzeko and Roma will visit Old Trafford on Thursday for the first leg of their semi-final tie with United.
