As the German completes his long-expected exit from the Emirates, a former teammate revealed his one big regret.
Jack Wilshere is happy the Fenerbahce-bound Mesut Ozil has found happiness again, but conceded he should’ve won then FA Cups during his time alongside the German.
Ozil is on the verge of ending a seven-and-a-half-year stay at Arsenal for a move to Fenerbahce. An agreement to end his Gunners contract six months early has reportedly been reached. Thus, he can complete a free transfer to the Turkish giants in January.

Now Wilshere, who played alongside Ozil at the Emirates between 2013 and 2018, regrets his former teammate’s time in London didn’t yield more silverware.
“Mesut is a top, top player, one of the best I played with,” said Wilshere as quoted in the Mirror.
“It is a shame how it went at Arsenal, but I am sure a lot of the fans will remember his early days where we had a really good team and, yes, we probably should have won a bit more than a couple of FA Cups.
“Hopefully, he can go on to be successful in Turkey.”
Despite being paid a club-best of £350,000-per-week, Ozil was left out of Mikel Arteta’s squad. His last appearance as a Gunner came back in March 2020.
“But no, I didn’t speak to him [Ozil],” continued Wilshere, who recently joined Championship club Bournemouth after falling out of favor at West Ham.
“I’m sure it was as difficult for him [to not be playing] as it was for me. It’s not nice to be in a position where you’re not given that opportunity – a fair opportunity – to try and challenge for a place in the team.
“Listen, people can have bad games and miss out on the team, but to not be given an opportunity is tough, and was tough, to take. So I’m happy that he has found happiness.”
