Patrice Evra is pleased with Manchester United’s capture of Edinson Cavani and claimed he could a more important signing than Jadon Sancho.
Cavani made his long-awaited debut for Manchester United in Saturday’s Premier League clash with top-four rivals Chelsea.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker nearly capped off his first appearance with a goal upon getting across his marker at the near post, but saw his effort hit the side-netting instead as the two sides settled for a 0-0 draw.
But while there wasn’t much to brag about at Old Trafford, Cavani seemed sharp in his movements and tried to press forward in an otherwise dull match.

This has led Evra to highlight the 33-year-old’s character as a key asset for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
“We need men, we need character, that’s why, people may not agree with Edinson Cavani, but for me, he’s a great signing,” the former Red Devils full-back said on Sky Sports.
“This team needs men, they need character. You can see when he came on, first touch, he was sharp.
“I know some people would have preferred Jadon Sancho, but Cavani is what I’m talking about. People come with no fear.”
Cavani’s leadership and experience have also frequently been touted as key reasons for United signing him on deadline day of the summer transfer window.
