Extending their winless run in the league to four straight games, the Toffees further dented their chances of a top-six finish.

Carlo Ancelotti Everton are “still in the fight” to attain European qualification after the goalless stalemate with Brighton on Monday.

Everton could’ve significantly boosted their chances of getting a place in Europe with a win as three points would have lifted them to above Tottenham and just below Liverpool – both of whom have played a game more – at seventh.

They remain at eight on 48 points after yet another disappointing result, a point behind Tottenham and four behind Liverpool.

“Of course, it’s more difficult now, the five, but it is a point,” Ancelotti told post-match, via Four Four Two.

“It is a point which through good team spirit, although of course with the ball we could do better, we had difficulties to build up from the back, we missed a lot of passes.

“I think that we are still in the fight but like I said it is more difficult. But now in the next eight games that we have to play, there’s a lot to play (for) and teams really close to us and the fight with us, we are still there.

“Of course it is a difficult moment because we have a lot of players out but I hope to recover some players for Friday and fight against Tottenham.”
