The Toffees have started the new season with two injury blows.
Everton manager Sean Dyche has provided injury updates on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alex Iwobi.
Both players left the pitch with injuries during Everton’s 4-0 defeat against Aston Villa last weekend. Calvert-Lewin’s facial injury will rule him out for the Toffees’ next match but Iwobi is set to spend a longer time on the sidelines.
Speaking in a press conference on Thursday, Dyche confirmed that Calvert-Lewin will see a specialist once the swelling on his face settles down. Iwobi, on the other hand, will be out for “a few weeks” after suffering a hamstring injury against Villa.
Everton have started the season with two defeats against Fulham and Villa, failing to register their first goal of the new season. But Dyche says it’s too early to discuss a potential crisis.
“It’s just the way Everton’s been for a number of months – years even. So it’s our job to change the story,” he told reporters. “It always starts on the pitch, with me and the team changing the rhetoric.
“We haven’t done that yet this season but we’re two games in. You can’t measure a season on two games, particularly after playing so well against Fulham.”
Everton will host Wolves in their next Premier League game on Saturday.
