Davide Ancelotti spoke about Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s potential and disclosed what ‘special skill’ he shares with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Everton’s assistant manager Davide Ancelotti has been working alongside his father Carlo since 2016. The 31-year-old is the youngest assistant manager in the Premier League.

Ancelotti Jr. spoke to talkSPORT about Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s role at the Toffee’s squad and what abilities make him stand out. Everton currently holds an impressive fourth place in the Premier League, with the English striker at the center of their success.

Calvert-Lewin has been at top-level with Everton this season, scoring a total of 14 goals on just 16 occasions. He currently shares second place in the league’s top-scorers table with Jamie Vardy and Son Heung-min.

Carlo Ancelotti has paid the 23-year-old a lot of compliments this season, and now it was his son’s turn to add up some well deserved praise.

“He is a special player,” said Davide Ancelotti. “He has fantastic abilities. Game-by-game you can see his improvement and how he is able to make a difference in this league.”

The assistant coach is particularly impressed by the English international’s physical abilities and commitment on the training grounds.

“Especially from a physical point of view, it’s difficult to see a player in this league that is better than the others because the level is really high. But Dominic is able to impress from this point of view.”

Having worked with his father at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Paris-Saint Germain, Davide has had the opportunity to see some of the best strikers in the world from up close. However, he believes Calvert-Lewin has the talent to become a part of that list.

“I think he has all [the attributes] to be the same. Of course, he is at the beginning of his way. But as I said, game-by-game, I’m seeing big improvements. Also in training, he is working very hard to improve.”

The England international has an important ‘special ability’.

Ancelotti Jr., who was a fitness coach at Real Madrid when Cristiano Ronaldo was their player, has noticed an important aspect that the forwards have in common.

“The special ability he has, that all the big talents have, is that he knows his body really well. He knows his feelings really well and that’s not so common. For example, Ronaldo was a player like this. He was able to understand his body.”

This isn’t the first time a football entity has made a comparison between the players. A few months ago, Richarlison told FIFA that his Everton teammate reminded him of the Juventus forward. The Brazilian midfielder believes Calvert-Lewin is turning into a very complete striker and “has an incredible leap on him like Cristiano Ronaldo”.
