The France international picked up a thigh injury while representing his nation at Euro 2020.
Everton boss Rafa Benitez says Lucas Digne is doing well on his road to recovery and expects him to return to full fitness soon.
Between his nation crashing out of the Euro 2020 at Round of 16 stage and him suffering an injury, Digne had a summer to forget.
The 27-year-old had to leave the pitch within just five minutes of entering it during France‘s 2-2 draw with Portugal after pulling a muscle in his thigh. He was then forced to sit out France’s final match of the tournament.
A key player for the club over the years, Everton will be hoping the left-back fully recovers and gets back in the starting XI from the get-go in the new season.
“I had contact with him [on Wednesday morning], he is training well, doing his job and ready to join the team as soon as possible,” Benitez told Everton TV.
“He is a great professional and I know he is working hard. My exchange of messages with him has been good because he is telling me he is nearly ready.”
