The Colombian hasn’t made an appearance this season amid uncertainty surrounding his future at Goodison Park.

Everton boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed reports linking James Rodriguez with a move away from the club but says he “doesn’t have too much information.”

James’ future at Everton has been a subject of intense speculations lately. He was a key member of the team during Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure but is supposedly not in Benitez’s plans.

The former Real Madrid star, who reportedly makes £200,000 per week at Goodison Park, has been linked with the Qatari side Al-Rayyan.

“To be fair, I don’t have too much information,” Benitez told Everton TV on rumors about James’ transfer.

“I know he is already there (Qatar). Maybe in the next couple of days we will have some more information.”

Asked whether Rodriguez could make an appearance for Everton in the Premier League match against Norwich City, the Toffees boss responded: “Very difficult.”

Benitez was speaking after Everton’s 2-2 defeat to Queen Park Rangers in the Carabao Cup.

“I think the way we played, the intensity of the game, the attitude of the players to come back twice…so many things we did well, in terms of what we are expecting from the team,” he added.

“It is a pity we didn’t take the chances in the final third and in the other box we conceded goals maybe we could have avoided.

“In the penalty shootout, we did everything we have to – scoring goals, young players, everyone – so, overall, I think it is a pity. We deserved to win.”
