Let’s take a look at the Premier League Player Ratings from the action-packed Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool.

Saturday’s Merseyside derby may have taken place behind closed doors, but it certainly didn’t disappoint as Everton and Liverpool settled for a hard-fought point at Goodison Park.

Sadio Mane made an instant impact upon his return from testing positive for COVID-19. He drilled home Andy Robertson’s low cross from the left to put the visitors in front inside three minutes. It was the quickest derby goal by a Reds player in Premier League history.

But Liverpool’s joy soon turned into dismay when star center-back Virgil van Dijk sustained an untimely knock from Jordan Pickford. The Everton keeper clattered into the Dutchman as they vied for the ball.

The challenge forced an injured Van Dijk to leave the pitch, with Joe Gomez replacing him in central defense.

Liverpool’s frustrations only grew when match officials didn’t book Pickford or hand them a penalty as VAR reviews showed that Van Dijk was offside. Michael Keane then capitalized on the Reds’ weakened defense to head in an equalizer.

Salah hits the century-mark

Mohamed Salah, like on many occasions, rose to the rescue yet again for the Reds by scoring a sublime volley in the second half. Not only did it restore their lead, but it was also his 100th goal for the club.

Despite the Egyptian’s heroics, though, Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalized in the final nine minutes of normal time before Richarlison’s reckless tackle on Thiago Alcantara left Everton down to 10-men.

Then, in the dying stages of the match, Jordan Henderson believed that he had won the derby for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The skipper latched on to Mane’s backpass to steer the ball past Pickford for an injury-time winner. However, VAR deemed Mane to be offside and disallowed the effort.
