City came back from behind to win their final match of 2023 at Goodison Park.

Manchester City defeated Everton 3-1 in their Premier League game on Wednesday. A brilliant second-half display from the Citizens ensured their victory against Everton.

What happened?

As expected, City started off by dominating the possession, pushing for an early breakthrough. However, fine saves from Jordan Pickford denied Julian Alvarez and Jack Grealish to keep Everton in the game.

Sean Dyche’s plan paid off when Jack Harrison put the hosts ahead just before the half-hour mark. A misplaced back-pass from Rodri found Dwight McNeil, whose cutback was then easily converted by Harrison.

The goal forced City to put more bodies forward as they looked to score the equalizer before the break. However, Pep Guardiola’s men had to wait until the 53rd minute to get back into the game. A spectacular low shot from Phil Foden made it 1-1 as City’s mission to complete their comeback began.

Only ten minutes later, Julian Alvarez scored a penalty to put the visitors ahead. Everton failed to pull themselves together and push for their second goal after Alvarez’s goal as City remained in control of the game.

City finally completed their victory when Bernardo Silva scored their third goal of the night by capitalizing on a terrible blunder from Pickford.

Phil Foden deserves the Man of the Match title for his decisive actions that helped City complete their comeback and beat Everton 3-1. The England international scored a stunning equalizer while also being involved in City’s subsequent efforts to score their second and third goals.
