Everton 0-1 Manchester City – Premier League Player Ratings

Man City clinched a narrow win at Goodison Park to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Manchester City defeated Everton 1-0 in their Premier League game on Saturday. The Citizens battled hard to earn the three points while Franck Lampard’s side showed signs of improvement.

Foden to rescue!

Everton started the game by surprising the Citizens with their high pressing while they pushed for an early opener. Following two missed chances from Jonjoe Kenny and Richarlison, it was evident City were not going to have an easy win.

However, after the intense first half ended, City started to find their feet in Everton’s half step by step. Pep Guardiola’s side dominated the possession, but their goal came after a rare defensive blunder from the hosts.

Michael Kean failed to get his feet to Andre Silva’s cross, with Phil Foden scoring City’s winner as soon as he received the ball behind him.

The Toffees pushed hard to get an equalizer in the final ten minutes while City looked extremely dangerous on the counter-attacks. However, neither side managed to score again, with the game ending in a 1-0 win for Pep Guardiola’s side.

What’s next for City and Everton?

Man City maintain their place on top of the Premier League table amid growing pressure from Liverpool. On the other hand, Everton continue their struggle to escape the looming danger of relegation as they suffered back-to-back losses.

City will now prepare to face Peterborough in the FA Cup while the Toffees will meet Boreham Wood two days later.
