Ronald Koeman will have to prepare for two different tasks, managing Barcelona with Lionel Messi and managing it without him.

Ronald Koeman took control of Barcelona’s first team in the midst of chaos. The club’s hierarchy were in disarray and a lot of personnel changes have been made.

The Dutch tactician himself is making changes to the first team squad. Arturo Vidal and Luis Suarez have been linked with a move away. While Ivan Rakitic has returned to Sevilla after six years.

Lionel Messi also wants to end his contract with the Catalan giants. Barcelona do not want that to happen. However, it is an eventuality Koeman should prepare for, according to his former Blaugrana teammate, Eusebio.

“Let’s first see what happens to Messi’s situation. But it is clear that the way to face the challenge of managing Barcelona for Koeman will be different if Leo is there than if he is not. It seems that the player has made the decision to leave and we will see how it ends,” Eusebio told EFE.

“If Leo were there, the team would continue to revolve around his figure and without him the conditions as a whole will be quite different. I also see Koeman facing both situations with personality and determination.”

Eusebio was last in Girona’s dugout. He was relieved of his duties following their relegation to Segunda Division.
