Ronaldo and Schick made their respective cases to win the prestigious accolade stronger while a couple of Ukrainian players rose in the rankings.
There were no surprises on the first day of Euro 2020 Round 2. Russia scraped past Finland 1-0, Wales got a comfortable 2-0 win over Turkey, and Italy deservedly beat Switzerland 3-0.
In the second fixture of the second day of Round 2, Denmark came close to causing an upset for Belgium, who trailed for the majority of the match to Youssef Poulsen’s speedy opener. Kevin De Bruyne, though, couldn’t let that happen as he architected the comeback after coming on in the second half, setting up one goal and scoring another himself in the 2-1 win.
The fourth day of Round 2 – perhaps the most entertaining day of this European Championship so far – brought with itself some surprises.
France, widely considered as favorites to win the trophy, were held to a 1-1 draw by a lowly Hungary. Elsewhere, titleholders Portugal were humbled 4-2 by Germany. Spain, meanwhile, remain winless in the tournament after drawing with Poland.
