Eto'o: If Messi leaves Barca, we need another name for the club

Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o has urged the club to do whatever they can to keep Lionel Messi this summer.

Barcelona are set for a summer of change after what was a disappointing 2019/20 campaign.

It gets worse when the latest rumors suggest that Lionel Messi has asked to leave Camp Nou this summer.

The Argentine has only one year left on his current contract which is set to expire next summer.

For a player who has spent his professional career at Barca, it will be quite weird seeing Messi don another jersey.

Still on pending change, Quique Setien is also expected to be dismissed as manager. Growing reports claim club legend Ronald Koeman could be appointed as his replacement.

Amidst the likely ins and outs set to take place at Barca this summer, Samuel has urged the club to do their best to keep captain Lionel Messi.

“There’s a need to do everything possible to ensure Messi finishes his career at Barcelona ,” Eto’o told TyC Sports.

“I hope that those who take the decisions do so for the good of Barcelona. I love Leo as if he were my son.

“Barcelona is Messi.”

“I always want the best for Messi , but the club is Messi .”If he decides to leave then we need to try to find another name for the club.”We’re lucky that we currently have the best player of all time.”
