Erling Haaland wants Manchester City to include a special clause in any potential contract.
Erling Haaland will request any potentially interested clubs to include a release clause in his contract.
The 21-year-old is widely expected to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer with a number of clubs interested in signing him, including Manchester City and Real Madrid.
According to The Sun, Pep Guardiola’s side are favourites to land Haaland, with further reports claiming the Premier League champions have a deal in place to sign the forward ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Haaland has a £63m release clause in his existing Dortmund contract, Mino Raiola’s fees, and a signing-on bonus, the total cost of signing the forward could be around £100m.
And the talented striker wants any future club to insert a buyout clause in his next deal as he wants to keep his options open in the future.
Earlier this week, Chris Sutton of the Daily Mail claimed Haaland would be a perfect fit for City. Writing for the publication, Sutton said: “Haaland’s left foot can be used as a sledgehammer, or he can use it to dink a delicate chip into the back of the net.
“To have that range and knowledge of which finish to use and when at 21 years of age is such a weapon. My old strike partner Alan Shearer was like that: just brutal in his finishing.
“Watch Haaland and you’ll see he’s never afraid of knocking the ball by a defender before bursting beyond him. He knows if he gets his body ahead of his opponent then the only way he’ll be stopped is by being brought down.”
City were held to a goalless draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night, giving Liverpool an opportunity to gain a footing in the Premier League race.
Guardiola’s side are next up in action against Southampton in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Sunday.
