The Norwegian star names Jamie Vardy as one of his sources of inspiration.
Since joining Borussia Dortmund in January 2020, Erling Haaland has taken European football by storm. The 21-year-old is already considered among the world’s best strikers, attracting interest from almost every top club in Europe.
Despite his already mature style of football, Haaland knows he can still continue his development. The former Salzburg striker reveals he has drawn inspiration from Leicester City veteran Jamie Vardy by watching his performances.
“I’ve been watching a lot of players,” Haaland told Sky Sports.
“let’s take for example the run in behind the centre-back when the number 10 has the ball.
“You have maybe the best in the world at that, Jamie Vardy.”
He added: “I’ve always been watching a lot of football.
“I play the game Saturday, go home on Sunday and watch football all day. I’ve always been like that.”
Former Arsenal and Manchester United star Robin Van Persie is also among Haaland’s most-watched stars.
He added: “I watched Van Persie a lot, he was also left-footed,
“I watched him scoring a lot of goals and as a left-footer as well it was natural for me to watch him a lot.”
Barcelona are currently Haaland’s most serious suitors, with the Catalans outlining a financial plan to close the deal next summer. However, with so many elite clubs involved, we better wait until the next transfer window to make any early predictions on his next club.
