The renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared his insight into the Man Utd manager’s plan for CR7.

Erik ten Hag wants Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Manchester United ‘at all costs’, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils manager considers Ronaldo a ‘world-class player’ and plans to build his new team around the five-time Ballon d’Or winner for the upcoming season at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo, of course, is yet to report for pre-season training because of family reasons. The forward has met Ten Hag, although this was before reports of him wanting to leave Manchester United emerged this month.

What is Ten Hag’s plan for Ronaldo?

In his latest CaughtOffside column, Romano has now addressed Ten Hag’s hopes for Ronaldo in detail.

“Ten Hag is now waiting to have another talk with Cristiano to try to change his mind,” the Italian wrote.

“Whatever some people have speculated about how the former Real Madrid man might fit into Ten Hag’s tactics, the truth is he wants at all costs to have him in his team for next year.

“Ten Hag still considers Ronaldo a world-class player and he would certainly be the star of his Manchester United team in 2022/2023. The manager believes that Ronaldo can be perfect for his tactical approach.”

On Monday, Ten Hag told reporters that he doesn’t plan to part with Ronaldo in a press conference in Thailand despite admitting that he hasn’t spoken to the player about his alleged transfer request so far.
